Instructions

    • 1

Purchase 12-inch lace doilies. Make your own lace circles, if you prefer, by purchasing inexpensive lace by the yard in your local fabric store. Trace a 12-inch circle and cut out with a pair of sharp sewing scissors. You will be able to make nine 12-inch circles from one yard of lace. Check thrift shops and yard sales for lace panels or curtains you can cut into circles.

    • 2

Choose clear or translucent Christmas balls or balls that are highly reflective. The color you choose will show through the lace, so consider the color carefully. Choose ribbon that coordinates with the color of the ball. Gold will work with any color.

    • 3

Press the doily to remove any wrinkles .Spread the lace doily out on your work surface. Center the Christmas ball on the doily. Gather the doily and pull to the top of the ball. Secure the top of the ball with a narrow ribbon and tie in a bow. Tug on the edges of the doily to pull it snug against the ball. Add a thin strip of hot glue to secure the ribbon and doily in place.

    • 4

Glue sprigs of baby's breath to the rim of the ball, near the ribbon. Glue tiny dried or silk rosebuds to the center of the baby's breath for a romantic touch.

    • 5

String a 9-inch piece of decorative cord or ribbon through ornament hanger of the ball and tie securely. Hang from the tree or from evergreen garland over the door.

    • 6

Present as a gift by placing in a box and surrounding with decorative tissue paper.
