How to Get Along With a Gemini

Geminis tend to be a lot of fun to be around. They're witty, talkative and adventurous. However, there are a few things about them that tend to aggravate some people. Here's a guide to avoiding problems with your Gemini friends and getting the most out of your time with them.

1. Prepare for some mental stimulation and witty conversation so that you can jump into the same wavelength as Gemini. Geminis are good at drawing all different types of people into their stimulating banter. If you can't come up with anything clever to say from time to time, simply ask your Gemini friend questions about the topic you're discussing. They appreciate curiosity and are always happy to share any information that they possess.

2. Accept the fact that Geminis are not the most consistent individuals on the face of the planet. The flaw that Geminis are most infamous for is being two-faced (or dualistic). They sometimes have a tendency to say one thing and do another, or present themselves in two different ways to two different people. This can be frustrating to the people who are closest to them. Simply keep in mind that the bright side to this characteristic is that they are adaptable and will sometimes unconsciously shift themselves depending on who they're talking to.

3. Ignore any behavior that you perceive as immature instead of letting it bother you. The flip side of Geminis being fun, clever and entertaining is that they can also be vain, superficial and flirtatious. They can sometimes go out of their way to get attention and may come off as too playful for more sober types. If a Gemini's behavior starts to get to you, simply direct your attention elsewhere.

4. Communicate with them if something they do offends you. The only reason that Geminis have a reputation for insensitivity is because they dwell on a cerebral plane much more than an emotional plane. They themselves do not get their feelings hurt very easily, and oftentimes they are unaware of the nuances of other people's emotions. Fortunately they are generally good natured and don't usually intend to hurt feelings. If you feel like a Gemini has overstepped some boundaries, simply tell her. Geminis make mistakes but tend to be quick to learn from them.

5. Maintain a healthy amount of other friends and interests, even if a Gemini is your very best friend (she certainly will, so you should too). Geminis are restless by nature and therefore can become bored quite easily. They're constantly changing their pace and trying new things, and if you can't keep up then you'll be left in the dust--at least for a while. Don't get offended or hurt when a Gemini doesn't bother to call or make an effort to hang out with you for a period of time. She's simply caught up in some other whirlwind and will sweep back around when the time is right.
