Book clubs can be an enriching experience, allowing you to share your views on a piece. But Christian book clubs can both help you understand a work and grow spiritually.

From Quick Guide: Book Clubs
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Finding the right group

  1. Step 1

Finding a Christian book club may be the hardest part of joining one. Spread the word about your search among friends and family. They may know someone in a Christian book club or may be interested in beginning one.

  2. Step 2

Talk to a nearby Christian bookstore. Some may have bulletin boards where customers can post listings.

  3. Step 3

Put up postings at your church bulletin board, or if your congregation is small, a call to the church office can place it on the announcements.

  4. Step 4

Once a member, read the books and contribute to the discussion. A main complaint of many book clubs is the lack of actual conversation about the subject.

  5. Starting your own Christian book club

  6. Step 1

Search for members just as you would when searching for book clubs by place announcements at Christian book stores or at your church and congregations around town.

  7. Step 2

Select the first two or three books for your book club, and plan to meet once a month.

  8. Step 3

Set up a comfortable place for discussion at a coffee shop or at the homes of the members.

  9. Step 4

After the first month or two, allow the next month's host to choose his or her own selections.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep in touch with your book club throughout the month, especially if they are new acquaintances. This will keep them motivated and interested in the club.
