White hair looks beautiful and provides a distinguished, mature air. However, there are certain factors that can cause discoloration and damage. Here are steps to avoid this problem:

  1. Step 1

    A Clarifying Shampoo:

    Try replacing your normal shampoo with a clarifying shampoo such as Alterna Life Solutions. Clarifying shampoos are especially useful if your home has hard water, as it removes mineral build up - one of the number one reasons for hair discolorations.

  2. Step 2

    Go Easy on the Product:

    Useing hair productions can leave build up in your hair, which can be another reason for discoloration, especially when useing hair gels.

  3. Step 3

    Tell the Split Ends to Split:

    Damaged hair and split ends ends tends to have a powerful impact on the quality of your color. Cut off those split ends, or try using a hot oil treatmen (although this is usually just a temporary fix.)

    Keeping Healthy:

    Your health can greatly effect your hair. If you find that your hair is turning shades or blue, or rust, it might not be a bad idea to go to the doctors - this may be a sign of a metebolic disorder.

  • Drink water! Keeping hyrdated is one of the most basic steps towards healthy hair.
  • Air dry. Constanty blow-drying can damage, even burn hair (especially white hair, as it tends to be more fragile)
  • Try a water softener. There are products available for your home that can held remove/lessen hard water.
  • If you decide to dye, go to a professional. White hair is notoriously difficult to dye.
