How to Pray Everyday

How to Pray Everyday thumbnail
say your prayers everyday...

Prayer is our personal time with God--our direct line to heaven. It is a time to be in touch with His Spirit, and as such, it should be an intimate experience that we humans could ever experience. In our busy lives we often put "praying" on the bottom of the list of our everyday to-dos. Most of the time prayer is overlooked except in times of emergency and need. Many people believed that praying everyday is a hard thing to do but it is achievable by practicing the following steps:

Start your day with a short prayer of gratitude. Upon waking up, thank God for another day of your life, for another chance to make it better and most especially for the blessings you received. There is no better way to start your day right by making it right with God. Talking to Him first thing in the morning aligns your thoughts to Him. This gives you strength to face your daily challenges no matter how difficult they are.

    • 2

Talk to God in your mind when you are doing tasks that don't require mental concentration. All throughout the day whether working at home or outside, there are certain tasks that we ought to do. However, not all of them require mental concentration: be it cleaning your home, taking care of the kids, using the restroom, exercising, taking a break in the office, etc. Make use of those opportunities to pray to God in your mind. Make this conversation personal like talking to a friend. Share to Him anything that comes to you however trivial they may be. Practicing this everyday eventually turns into a habit and in the long run you will be surprised how easy it is to pray and be intimate with God.

Listen to songs that inspire you and remind you of God and His work in your life. Music is the language of the soul and it brings out powerful emotions and memories in your life. Play your favorite songs whenever you have the opportunity and be reminded of God and His love for you.

Develop a daily habit of setting aside few minutes each day to read the Bible or your favorite spiritual book. Make it a goal to have a quiet time for yourself and God no matter how busy your everyday schedule is. Great men and women in history became great because they devote time for reflection and assessment of their progress. The same is true with you. Quiet time is a great time to pray and ask God for direction in your life. The person who spends time in prayer is the one who is enlightened.

End your day with a prayer of thanks. Before you retire for the night, remember to thank God for giving you the wisdom and strength to survive the day that He has given to you to enjoy. Say your thanks sincerely, present you requests, and then sleep tightly with peace in your soul.

Above all, make a decision every moment to commit to praying no matter what the situation in your life is. One famous spiritual leader, Emmet Fox, quotes, "Daily prayer when it is established as a habit becomes an unbreakable life line." So if your prayer life is strong you can expect to see rewards in your effort according to your faith.
