Things You'll Need:
- Cardboard
- Paper Sacks
- Pumpkins
- Apples
- Peanuts

Step 1
1920Halloween costumes in the past were made by hand. You couldn't buy store made costumes so it was up to everyone to make their own masks. When you send out the invitation let your guests know that they must make their own masks.
-
Step 2
1920Costumes were not elaborate and were usually dark clothing and hats. This will actually be easier than you think as you can purchase dark clothing at a thrift store. Try a long floor length skirt or buy a pair of men's pants and black suspenders over a black shirt.
-
Step 3
Pumpkin with paper hatRemember plastic and vinyl are a no-no for decorating. Since it is retro you need to stick to paper. Make ghosts out of golf balls under white napkins and tied with burlap around the "neck". Make a black and white copy of a Halloween picture out of a magazine and put it in a frame and hang it on the wall. Cut out bats and silhouette of witches with black construction paper. Set lots of candles around for atmosphere and try some voodoo jars. You can find out how to make them by going to my article on How to Make Voodoo Jars. Use paper sacks to make a sign that says "Happy Hallowe'en".

Step 4
GypsyHave someone act as a gypsy fortune teller and set up a table with a crystal ball. Have a large metal tub full of apple for bobbing for apples. Add a large punch bowl for refreshments and set fresh apples, autumn leaves and pumpkins everywhere.
-
Step 5
PeanutsFinish up the night by giving everyone a small hand-decorated paper bag full of peanuts or home-made candy apples.
