Have a Retro Thanksgiving Party
Have a Retro Thanksgiving Party

Make this Thanksgiving one that you will remember for a long time by going back in time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Food
  • Decorations
  • Music
  • Assessories
  1. Step 1

First decide what decade you favor. Is it the Roaring 20's, the 40's or the 50's. Maybe it's the year that your parent's got married or the year that your Great Aunt was born.

  2. Step 2

Tell your guests that you would like them all to dress accordingly. Assure them they don't need a full costume, just a bow tie or a derby, several strands of long pearls or a poodle skirt.

  3. Step 3

Prepare the atmosphere with music. Buy a dvd of music from your chosen era or find a radio station that is playing music from that decade. The Internet is full of online radio stations that you can choose from, like Big Bands, Rock and Roll or Frank Sinatra.

  4. Step 4

Decorate your table with a white cloth tablecloth and napkins. Silver candle holders and candles. Add extra touches like crystal containers filled with cranberry sauce or cranberries, a silver platter for the turkey and large goblets for iced water. You can use your own "good" china or buy vintage plates at a thrift store. Don't worry if they match, as it will just add to the charm.

  5. Step 5

After dinner, have the whole family go through those old photographs of the family and serve pie and coffee. And don't forget to take more photographs to remember your special Thanksgiving Day.
