Creating a Stationary Pad from a file you use often helps streamline your workflow and is a timesaver. You can make a Stationary Pad from almost any file on your Mac, including Word, XL and PowerPoint. In this lesson you will learn how to change any file into a stationary pad file on Mac OS X.

1. 

   Select the file you wish to change to a Stationary Pad and preform a “Get Info” on the selected file. You can “Get Info” by selecting “Edit/Get Info” in the Finder Menu Bar or by using the key combination “Command-I.”

2. 

   In the open "Get Info" window select the check box “Stationary Pad.”

3. 

   Close the “Get Info Window.” Your file will retain all of the information that you’ve previously written to the file, such as your name, address or other information, and is ready for you to input new text or information.

4. When saving your new file from the Stationary Pad, perform a “Save As” to save your new file and retain the old, unchanged information in the Stationary Pad for the next time you will use the Stationary Pad file.
