Here's how to get that stuck blade on your Swiss Army Knife or Leatherman to open easily again.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Warm, soapy water
  • Toothbrush
  • 3-in-1 Oil, or other household lubricating oil
  1. Step 1

Pry open the difficult blades with your fingernails or the tip of a butter knife.

  2. Step 2

With the blades open (don't cut yourself), wash the knife is warm soapy water. Use an old toothbrush to scrub the grime and dirt from the base of each blade.

  3. Step 3

Keep the blades open and let your knife air dry.

  4. Step 4

Now add 3-in-1 or any household lubricating oil to the blades of the knife. Use just a few drops on the inside of each side of the knife.

  5. Step 5

Be careful to not get the oil on the outside of the knife.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't use WD-40 on your knife. It won't properly lubricate the blade movement.
