In order to play Blackjack, a basic understanding of the phrases, terminology, lingo is warranted. Included here are a few of the most used Blackjack Phrases.

Things You'll Need:

  • Deck Cards
  • Article
  • Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Hit. The player takes another card.

  2. Step 2

    Stand. The player takes no more cards.

  3. Step 3

    Double Down. The player doubles their bet or wager, taking one hit and then standing.

  4. Step 4

    Split. The player doubles the wager and has each initial card be the first card in two separate hands.

  5. Step 5

    Surrender. The player forfeits half their bet and gives up their hand.

  6. Step 6

    Bet. The amount of money the player wages in the game.

  7. Step 7

    Bust. The players score is over 21.

  8. Step 8

    Insurance. The dealer offers insurance to players if their card shows an Ace up card. Insurance pays off if the dealer draws a blackjack.

  9. Step 9

    Deal. The player is dealt two cards at the beginning of the game. The dealer receives two cards one face up one face down.

  10. Step 10

    To Cash In. Turning in your chips.

  11. Step 11

    Chips. The chips represent the players money in the card game.

  12. Step 12

    Black Jack. A hand that totals (a natural) or two cards totaling 21.
