Wakes are funerals can often be difficult to dress for. Here are a few easy tips to make sure you look your best

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Nowadays, more people are wearing clothes other than black. To be on the safe side, choose black or dark clothing in shades of grey or blue and only use brighther colors such as white or beige as accents.

  2. Step 2

Make sure your shoes are polished and closed toe for the ladies. If you will be standing for a long time, flats are acceptable as long as they aren't too casual like flip-flops.

  3. Step 3

Keep accessories and jewelry subtle and elegant. Excellent choices for jewelry include classics such as pearls, delicate diamonds and simple chains.

  4. Step 4

When in doubt, use the "interview" rule. If you wouldn't wear the outfit to a job interview, don't wear it to the wake or funeral.

Tips & Warnings
  • Iron your clothing the night before
  • A tailored jacket is a good idea because it can be removed according to the weather
  • Use these tips, but remember, your presence is what ultimately matters and will be appreciated no matter what you chose to wear.
