Here's how to replace or re-glue in a missing ceramic tile.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tile adhesive
  • Tile grout
  • Replacement tile (If you don't have the old tile.)
  • Notched trowel
  • Grout in a tube that matches the color of the existing grout
  • Sponge to wipe up excess grout
  1. Step 1

Buy tile adhesive and tile grout at a hardware store. You don't need a lot of adhesive and grout to replace one tile, so buy the smallest sizes possible.

  2. Step 2

The best bet is to use the old tile if you have it. (A broken tile can be glued together with krazy glue). If you need a new tile, buy a replacement tile in the closest color possible. You may have to shop online for specialty tile colors and shapes.

  3. Step 3

Clean out loose debris from the area where you'll glue the replacement tile. Make sure the surface is dry.

  4. Step 4

Evenly spread tile adhesive to the area where you will apply the tile. Use a notched trowel.

  5. Step 5

Press the tile firmly down into the adhesive.

  6. Step 6

After the adhesive dries, apply grout from the grout tube.

  7. Step 7

Wipe off the excess grout with a damp sponge.
