Keep going to sleep at work? This is a problem that alot of people have, some people even get their best sleep while at work. However; here are a few quick tips to help you "make it" by staying awake!

  1. Step 1
    Get lots of sunshine!
    Get lots of sunshine!

    Get lots of sunlight: If you get lots of sunlight your body will more or likely stay awake. Even if it's not natural sunlight, surround yourself with bright lights, it will make you more alert.

  2. Step 2
    Ice cold water!
    Ice cold water!

    Stay uncomfortable: This may sound strange, but it's a must. Try to stay on your feet as much as you can, however; when you do have to sit down, pick a chair that isn't comfortable. Also another tip that works is staying cold. Yes, you read right, staying cold! Try taking off your sweater or turning the fan on to add a bit of coldness. Try drinking a glass of ice cold water, it will keep you awake and alert do to bathroom breaks.

    Avoid Getting Full: For most people, after they get a full stomach, they tend to fall asleep. This goes for people at work too! Don't overdue it by eating until you can't move, save that for at home.

    Stay active
    Stay active

    Be Physical when able: Every 20-30 minutes get up to stretch or walk around. If you work at a computer desk, you can even do exercises to keep you awake. Avoid sitting for long periods of time.

    Take a nap: While you won't be able to take a nap while you're working, use your break/lunch time to nap. Taking a power nap while surely give you a big boost of energy.

    Turn up the beat!

    Listen to Music: If allowed, keep your Ipod or CD player handy so you can listen to tunes. Try to listen to tunes that energize you instead of putting you to sleep. Use headphones to avoid disturbing other co-workers.

on 10/31/2008 This is "must have" information, lol. The trick I use is to slip 2 0r three Altoid or Listermint breath strips in my mouth. BANG! It may make your eyes water, but no one can sleep through that! Good article.
