Things You'll Need:
- Tape measure
-
Step 1
Look at your belongings. Do you need door storage? If you have a large amount of shoes, door storage is ideal. The closet door that works best for this situation is a standard door or bifold door.
-
Step 2
Think about the size of your room. If it is a small room, you might want to incorporate mirrors on your closet door to give the illusion of space. Accordion doors will not work with mirrors. Instead, a sliding door or standard closet door would work well.
-
Step 3
Choose a closet door that matches the trim and baseboards of your home. If you have dark wood in your house, make sure your closet door is also made of dark wood. In this case, Maple would not look good.
-
Step 4
Call a custom closet door company if you can't find what you are looking for in the stores. Narrow, extra short, extra tall, or oblong spaces require special fittings.
