Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- PC interface device

Step 1
Plug the PC interface device into the computer and install the necessary drivers by following the wizard on the screen. Turn the key to on without starting the vehicle and turn off any accessories such as lights and climate control.

Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature then shut it off. Connect the PC interface device to the data link connector located directly under the hood release on the driver side kick panel.

Switch the ignition on and then the PC interface device. On the menu that appears on the interface device, select "Each System Check." Highlight "Engine Control System" and click "OK."

Click "Current Data Display & Save" and then "Data Display" to view the current timing settings. Make adjustments as necessary taking care to double-check each change before entering it.

Shut off the engine and disconnect the PC interface device from the data link connector. Restart the Mazda6 and allow it to idle for 5 minutes.
