    Don't have any baking powder? No problem!

    1 t. baking powder

    1/4 t. baking soda + 1/2 t. cream of tartar

  2. Step 2

    Substitute Cooking Ingredients: KETCHUP OR CHILI SAUCE

    Don't have any ketchup or chili sauce? No problem!

    1 c. ketchup or chili sauce
    =
    1 c. tomato sauce + 1/2 c. sugar + 2 T. vinegar (for use in cooking)

  3. Step 3

    Substitute Cooking Ingredients: CORNSTARCH

    Don't have any cornstarch? No problem!

    1 T. cornstarch
    =
    2 T. flour or 2 t. quick-cooking tapioca

  4. Step 4

    Substitute Cooking Ingredients: CRACKER CRUMBS

    Don't have any cracker crumbs? No problem!

    3/4 c. cracker crumbs
    =
    1 c. bread crumbs

  5. Step 5

    Substitute Cooking Ingredients: DRY MUSTARD
    Don't have any dry mustard? No problem!

    1 t. dry mustard
    =
    1 T. prepared mustard

  6. Step 6

    Substitute Cooking Ingredients: FRESH ONION

    Don't have any fresh onions? No problem!

    1 small onion
    =
    1 T. instant minced onion, rehydrated

  7. Step 7

    Substitute Cooking Ingredients: TOMATO JUICE

    Don't have any tomato juice? No problem!

    1 c. tomato juice
    =
    1/2 c. tomato sauce + 1/2 c. water
