Things You'll Need:
- Allergies
-
Step 1
Wash mattress pads in hot water. Dust mites love your mattress pads. Wash them on a hot cycle weekly and you will kill the mies.
-
Step 2
Air-condition your home and car. Air-conditioning discourages mites and molds, and they can filter the air while cooling it.
-
Step 3
Seal your bedding in plastic.
-
Step 4
Wipe down humid areas with fungicides such as bleach.
-
Step 5
If you are doing things outside like mowing the lawn, you may want to wear a face mask.
-
Step 6
Isolate your pets. Keep your bedroom sealed off from the rest of the house and pets.
-
Step 7
Use synthetic pillows. You can wash synthetic pillows in hot water.
-
Step 8
Get someone else to dust and vacuum for you.
-
Step 9
If you can replace your carpet with wood floors and throw rugs this would help alot. You will eliminate that part of your home that captures and holds more dust, pollen, pet dander, and mold than any other. Throw rugs and floors can be washed.
-
Step 10
Buy an air purifier.
-
Step 11
If you can afford to, go to a doctor and get an allergy shot.
-
Step 12
Keep over the counter allergy medication around. You can buy several types of allergy medicines at your local store. Some of these include benadryl, zyrtec and claritin.
