Step 1
1. Don't let dirty dishes stack up. Clean them up and put them away when they're dry.
-
Step 2
2. Put away any kitchen items you don't use almost daily that are taking up counter space. These may include toasters, blenders, mixers, etc.
-
Step 3
3. Mount items under your cabinets. You can buy fold-down racks that will hold spices, cookbooks, a radio, etc. You can also get drawers and appliances (a can opener or microwave comes to mind) designed to be installed under cabinets.

Step 4
4. A wire dish rack that mounts directly above the sink not only frees space but can reduce moisture by draining your dishes into the sink. You can find these at kitchen specialty stores.
