Upload your e-book to make it available on the Web.

Once you have an electronic book (e-book) file, upload it to a Web host to make your work available to your readers on the Internet. The uploading process is typically done using the tools in your website's hosting account; but if you do not own a site, you still have the ability to display it on the Internet, and even offer it for sale. Use an online digital products retailer to upload your e-book and distribute your electronic information.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch a retailer website that enables you to upload and sell digital products, like Click2Sell, PayLoadz, Lulu, PayDotCom.com or Scribd. Click the "Sign Up" link at the top of the desired site to create a vendor membership.

    • 2

Log in to your account and offer your e-book for sale using the provided tools. Using PayLoadz, for instance, you'd click the "Account Home" link at the top, click the "Create New Product to Sell" link on the left, select "e-book" as the category and enter the required information, including the title of your book and the price. Click the "Submit Product Information" button at the bottom of the page to continue.

    • 3

Upload your e-book file by clicking the "Browse" button which appears after you offer your e-book for sale. Select the file on your computer from the dialog window that automatically displays, and follow the onscreen prompts to upload it. Providers such as Click2Sell also provide an "Upload Image of the Product" option that allows you to include an image file for your book.

    • 4

Follow the onscreen instructions that appear after you upload your e-book to include your product in the provider's store listing. To illustrate, click the Scribd "Sell your documents in the Scribd Store" button to include your e-book in the Scribd Store, which offers benefits including 80 percent of the revenue and instant analytics data. Your e-book is now uploaded and available for sale.

Tips & Warnings

  • Digital retailer providers allow you to upload your e-book in exchange for a commission fee and sometimes a start-up cost. See the provider's "Help," "Support" or "FAQ" page to get the details for your particular account.

  • Your e-book payments are delivered to you in various methods, depending on the retailer you are working with. Lulu, for example, submits your funds via PayPal or paper check.
