Things You'll Need:
- Few minutes of your time
-
Step 1
In front of you stands somebody whos intensions are to hurt you. The first thing you want to do is get a good stance(placement of your feet). Now theres diffrent ways to do this if your right handed your left foot should be up front at about a 12:00 o clock position. And your right should be in the back at about a 4:00 o clock position with at least 2 feet in between. If your left handed its vice versa. If you can do both your one of the lucky ones.
-
Step 2
Now its time to protect yourself. This step explains your guard. If your right handed your left hand goes in front and right in back. This is because the hand out front is for jabbing and the one in back is for your power punches(haymakers). If your left handed its vice versa Now very important, always keep your hands up dont cover your eyes but dont leave your chin open.
-
Step 3
Jabbing is a punch delivered with the hand thats up in the front. Throwing the jab is easy just extend the hand up front quick and with at least 75% power. But as fast as it goes out it needs to come back in to your guard. You can get creative with these. Try to keep moving when your throwing these if possible. They wont do much damage but they will take there toll.
-
Step 4
Straights are basically jabbing with both fists. Throw a left, then come with a quick right. Or throw a right, then come with a quick left. You can practice this using the 1,2 training program.
-
Step 5
Haymakers are power punches. These are 100% power each time and each throw. (WARNING-ONLY USE THIS IF YOU KNOW FOR SURE IT WILL CONNECT, OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE OUT OF BREATH EARLY IN THE FIGHT)
-
Step 6
Countering is taking advantage of your opponents mistakes. If they throw a goof at you and you are able to avoid it. Come back with a haymaker or a 90% straight. These usually will knock them off guard.
