Properly securing your lift ticket keeps your lift access.

Before gliding, or tearing, down the snowy slopes at a ski resort, you must obtain a ski lift ticket to gain access the lifts that take you to the top of the runs. Depending on the resort's policy, losing your lift ticket can cause lost time on the mountain or complete revocation of your skiing privileges for the day. It is important to attach your lift ticket securely to your jacket without obscuring it from the lift attendant's view.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate a solid, prominent, attachment area on your ski jacket or pants -- preferably a zipper on an unused side pocket or designated ski attachment ring. Avoid attaching it to your front zipper unless absolutely necessary because the wind will push the ticket toward your neck and face.

    • 2

Thread the zip tie through the ski lift ticket, bar code facing front, and the chosen location on your gear. The ticket will already have a hole punched.

    • 3

Pull the zip tie through the fastener on the end. Do not pull too tightly or it will tear the lift ticket. Leave a gap in the loop in the event you need to cut it off.

Tips & Warnings

  • Carry a couple extra zip ties. If you need to take off your jacket, you will be able to reattach it to another article of gear.

  • Do not attach your ticket to your glove, goggles or other article that might be misplaced. For example, if you drop your glove, you lose your glove and your lift ticket.
