Scorched on and burned on foods are tough to remove from pots and pans. Here are some tips to help remove the tough messes.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

To remove food scorched and stuck on the pot or pan, sprinkle a little dry baking soda over the entire surface, allowing the baking soda to soak up any wet foods and oils left over from cooking. Allow to set for about 15 to 20 minutes, then scrub off.

  2. Step 2

For pans that have burned in the oven, fill a sink with warm water. Add in a little of borax and let the pans soak for about a half an hour. Drain, rinse thoroughly, then scrub the burned parts off.

  3. Step 3

Pyrex and glass ovenware can have food caked on from baking. To remove the baked on particles, soak in a sink or bus tub filled with hot water and a little ammonia. All to soak until the water is cold. Remove, drain the water, rinse the pan thoroughly, and scrub off the baked particles.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use gloves to protect hands from scrubbing.
  • Always rinse the pots and pans thoroughly to remove all chemical traces before scrubbing.
