Ferrets are some of the most amazing animals you can own. They are very curious and love to play and explore. Your ferret will appreciate a variety of toys, both store-bought and homemade.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plastic grocery bags
  • Throw pillows
  • Garden tubing
  • Paper bags
  • Socks
  • Tennis balls
  1. Step 1

Figure out what kind of toy your ferret prefers. Some love toys that make a crinkling noise, others like stealing small objects.

  2. Step 2

If your little weasel likes noisy toys, try giving him a grocery bag, either plastic or paper. Most ferrets love to hide in these or drag them around because of the noise they make.

  3. Step 3

A good toy for a ferret who likes to steal and hide things is a tennis ball. Use brand new ones or clean, used ones. The fuzzier the tennis ball the easier it is for the ferret to pick it up.

  4. Step 4

Another fun hide-it toy is a tennis ball inside a sock. Push the tennis ball all the way down into the toe and let your ferret drag it around and hide it.

  5. Step 5

Ferrets are burrowing animals who love to run through or nap in tunnels of any kind. The clear plastic tunnels sold for this purpose in pet stores are great, but it's cheaper to get plastic garden tubing (usually black and used for drainage) and provide that for a good romp or a nice nap in a dark place.

  6. Step 6

If you have the floor space, try making a little mound of pillows for your ferret to explore. This can be done with throw pillows, blankets, even cushions from furniture you no longer use. You can also combine this with the tunnel and make a wonderful ferret playland.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pretty much anything can be a ferret toy if you let them get a hold of it, just make sure it's safe and you won't mind if it goes missing...
  • Supervise your ferret anytime it's out of the cage and don't let it take toys like bags into the cage since it could potentially get tangled up while you're not watching.
