Things You'll Need:
- Titebond or Elmer's Wood Glue
- Quick Grip Clamps or C-clamps with rubber or plastic tips to prevent damage
-
Step 1
Fill the crack with wood glue.
Draw a bead of wood glue into the crack. If possible, use a small, match-sized piece of wood to spread the wood glue on the walls of either side of the split. -
Step 2
Apply pressure.
Now you'll need to clamp the wood back together. Apply clamps across the width of the split by clamping both edges of the board toward each other. You'll know the clamps are tight enough when both edges of the split are 100% touching, as if there wasn't a split to begin with. -
Step 3
Wipe up the glue bead.
As you clamped, it's likely a glue bead developed along the length of the split. Use a damp paper towel to wipe up the glue bead thoroughly while it's still wet glue. -
Step 4
Wait for at least a day.
-
Step 5
Remove the clamps.
-
Step 6
If the clamps did their job, the crack should be healed.
