Winterize Indoor Perenials
Winterize Indoor Perenials

Winterizing indoor perrenials is easy. Learn how.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • mulch
  • a room with lights
  1. Step 1

Perennials take little attention especially indoor ones. Treat them as you always would until mid-November.

  2. Step 2

In mid-November add 4-6 inches of mulch to protect them. You can use straw, hay or leaves. If you use leaves, crush them or run over them several times with a lawn mower. Place the perennials in a room with natural light.

  3. Step 3

You will need to remove the mulch in the Spring. The key is to place mulch right after the first freeze and take it off at the last freeze. Since they are inside, this isn't as important, but the time table is the same.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use any type of mulch.
  • Be sure to mulch right after the first frost and remove mulch at the last frost.
