Indoor Perennial

Winter is right around the corner. It is time to prepare your garden for winter and move some perennials indoors. Perennials include plants that regenerate every year on their own for more than two years. They include things like herbs, roses, and daffodils. If not handled properly, then these delicate plants may die.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Deadhead your plants and cut them back before moving indoors. You should also test your potting soil and investigate whether your plants need fertilizer. If you choose to fertilize, then I recommend using a non burning organic fertilizer.

  2. Step 2

Gradually move your plants indoors. Start by moving them indoors for an hour or two everyday then take them back outside. Gradually increase the amount of time they spend indoors until you no longer move them. If you move plants indoors immediately without alternating between indoor and outdoor time, then your plants will certainly die.

  3. Step 3

Choose an area in your home where your plants can be comfortable. Avoid areas that receive either full sun or extreme warmth. Do not place plants near heating vents or in the warmest room in your home.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be really carefully when choosing fertilizer. I do not use anything that isn't organic.
  • It's ok to place your plants in a window, but I recommend using a window on the south side of your home.
