Things You'll Need:
- Razor
- Soap or Shaving Cream
- Loofah or Exfoliating Cloth
-
Step 1
Soften the area to be shaved with warm water. A good warm soak will help. Never shave dry, use well-lathered soap or shaving cream.
-
Step 2
Shave in the direction of hair growth and avoid going over the area too many times. Always use a clean razor.
-
Step 3
Exfoliate with a loofah in-between shaving. This will remove the dead skin that traps hair and can help ingrown hairs free themselves naturally.
-
Step 4
Never pick, dig or force an ingrown hair from under the skin. This can lead to infection, scarring and sometimes force the hair even deeper.
-
Step 5
Apply a warm washcloth to ingrown hairs to help them come to the surface.
-
Step 6
Apply over the counter aftershave products to help prevent ingrown hairs from coming back. Products with glycolic acid are helpful for many people who suffer with ingrown hair.

on 9/22/2008 Thank you for the great advice, as I have had a couple of infections just recently from tweezing. This is important for people to know because the threat of a staph infection is very real. Also a MRSA or staph infection is difficult to get rid of without the aid of a particular kind of antibiotic. Plus MRSA can be contagious and may be fatal in persons with compromised immune systems and the weak and elderly.
