Things You'll Need:
- 100% UV Protection Sunglasses
-
Step 1
Get a pair of quality sunglasses.
Forget the drugstore pair. Get a quality pair of 100% UV blocking sunglasses from an eyeglass shop or the Sunglass Hut. It's important to buy sunglasses where you can try them on. If you have extra trouble with glare, buy polarized lenses. -
Step 2
Use your sun visor.
In high glare situations, bring your sun visor down, and pull out the extension, if there is one. If your visor is broken, have it fixed or replaced. Remember that your visor can also be turned to cover the side window. -
Step 3
Buy a car with a dark, and/or matte paint job.
There's a reason police cars have dark hoods. That's because a dark hood absorbs sunlight, and doesn't reflect it. Buying a car with a darker color finish will greatly reduce glare. Avoid cars with white, light, and sparkly paint jobs. -
Step 4
Give your eyes a break.
Stop once per hour during sunny conditions and rest your eyes for about five minutes.
