Things You'll Need:

• Deadbolt locks
• Eye hole for the front door
• Chain locks
• Motion detector lights
• Interior light timers
• Car in the driveway
• "Protected by" Stickers

1. Make sure every exterior door has a deadbolt lock.

2. Install a safety chain or slider on the front door.

3. Install an eye hole in the front door if it doesn't already have one.

4. Put motion sensor lights on your front and back porch.

5. Buy interior light timers if you leave the house alone for long periods of time. These turn on the interior lights at random times after dark.

6. Leave a car in the driveway to signal that someone is at home when you are away.

7. If you have a family member who installed an alarm, ask for one of their "Protected By" stickers. Put it on or near your front door.
