Things You'll Need:
- Pot
- Potting soil
- Wheat grass seed
- Water
- A well lit window
-
Step 1
Growing a pot of grass indoors may dissuade your cat from eating the more irritating grass outside if you have an indoor-outdoor cat. If you have an indoor cat, then he or she will thank you for offering this healthy and tasty tidbit. And the fact that you can grow non-irritating grasses will make both you and your carpets happy.
-
Step 2
Probably the easiest grass to grow from seed for your cat is wheat grass. You can buy pots of it from pet stores or some supermarkets. Or you can grow your own from seed.
-
Step 3
Just drop the big seeds close together on the surface of the soil. (You can put a thin layer of soil on top if you wish.) Keep the soil moist and within a few days you will see little grass-like sprouts. They grow really fast and you can put your pot of grass onto a surface your cat frequents within a couple more days. Keep it where it gets some sun or at least good light and don't let it dry out.
-
Step 4
I keep a couple of pots going so while one is being nibbled down I am starting up another into growth. That way my two cats are always content. And I no longer have regurgitated spots on my carpet.
