Step 1
Do not buy “natural”
“Natural” is not the same as “organic” and is not regulated by USDA – don’t spend money on such products if you don’t have to -
Step 2
Try store brands
They are usually cheaper and often high quality -
Step 3
Use coupons
Some organic sores issue such coupons, you can find it in your local newspaper, on-line, on the box of the item you already purchased -
Step 4
Cook at home
Cooking with bulk, organic ingredients is cheaper than buying prepared organic products. -
Step 5
Buy some organic fruits and vegetables
Try to buy those fruit and veggies in organic version that retain pesticide residue, even after you wash them: peaches, apples, lettuce, bell peppers, celery, nectarines, strawberries, blueberries, cherries, pears, grapes, spinach -
Step 6
You do not have to buy organic versions of fruit and veggies that have thicker skins, because they have less pesticide residue: avocados, onions, corn, pineapples, mango, asparagus, bananas, kiwis, papaya and cabbage.
-
Step 7
Do buy organic protein rich food like meat, eggs, and diary. These organic foods are free of synthetic growth hormones, antibiotics, and pesticides.
-
Step 8
Do not buy processed organic food. Packaged foods like cereals, breads, oils, chips, pasta, and canned vegetables lost a lot of health benefits through processing, so you can go ahead and buy non-organic.
-
Step 9
Buy organic baby food or make your own baby food from organic fruit and vegetables.
-
Step 10
Grow your own organic food. If you live in a city, you can always grow some herbs in a pot, but if you have a garden, you can grow some fruit and vegetables.
