Creating a personal style that fits within your personal beliefs is important. Showing too much skin can be distracting in social and professional situations. Choosing to dress modestly does not doom you to wearing floor length shapeless skirts and dresses. You will not be required to wear box shaped jumpers or head to toe flowers. Here are some tips to help you dress modestly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Accessories
  • Free time to shop
  • Time to look through your current wardrobe.
  • Honest attitude.
  1. Step 1

Create a good foundation to dress modestly. Find a higher cut camisole or tank tops to layer blouses with. Look for jersey knit type fabrics that stretch. Buy better quality underwear that does not show visible panties lines.

  2. Step 2

The correct skirt length does not have hit at your ankle. If you are wearing a long skirt, add a trendy belt. This belt can add shape to a boxy top or jacket.

  3. Step 3

Try on different skirt lengths. Pencil skirts or A line skirts that hit below the knee in solid colors can easily become a staple piece in your wardrobe.

  4. Step 4

Shop in the misses department. Do not automatically go to the older woman's section of the store. Bring your layering camisole with you. See how it lays under tops before purchasing them.

  5. Step 5

Wear complimentary toned sheer pantyhose or tights if you do not want to go out with a bare leg. Leggings work well with shorter length skirts.

  6. Step 6

Purchase jackets, sweaters, and boleros for all seasons to turn sun dresses, and tank tops that may be too revealing into an outfit you can feel good about wearing.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid wearing extremely loose tops with loose skirts, add a belt.
  • Know what you feel comfortable wearing, before you start shopping.
  • Always try on questionable items, before purchase.
  • Wear matching jewelry to bring the focus to your face.
  • Wearing over sized skirts, blouses, and outdated patterns can make you appear outdated.

on 12/12/2008 What about pants? Does modesty require skirts or dresses? I think, pants are even more modest, if not worn too tight !
