Step 1
Use cloth instead of paper. When you clean, use rags instead of paper towels. When you are sick, use a handkerchief instead of Kleenex.
-
Step 2
Don't print anything from the computer unless you absolutely need a hard copy. Unless your document is very important, use the both sides of the paper to print on before you throw it away.
-
Step 3
Try to find another use for things before they are thrown away. For example, use old envelopes for grocery lists and use old margarine tubs to take leftovers to work. Wash reseal able plastic bags to use again.
-
Step 4
Stop extra garbage from coming into the house. Don't buy things with lots of individually packed items. Stop drinking soda. Don't buy more than you need to avoid waste.
-
Step 5
Don't throw anything away that is still in good condition. Sell, give away or donate it to charity. This includes clothes, furniture, etc.
-
Step 6
Recycle cardboard, glass, aluminum cans, newspapers, magazines, and steel cans.
