How to Make Snowflake Glasses

Pretty snowflake glasses add variety to a kitchen cupboard. You will surely attract plenty of compliments after completing this unique project. The following guide will help you make these lovely home accents.

Things You'll Need

• Drinking glass
• Contact paper
• Snowflake stickers
• Etching cream (available at craft stores)
• Scissors
• Circle cutter (like for scrapbooking)
• Paint brush
• Latex gloves
• Sponge

Instructions

1. Cut a 4 x 4 square out of the contact paper.

2. Set your glass on top of the contact paper. Using a pencil, draw a circle around the bottom of the glass onto the contact paper. Remove the glass.

3. Cut a circle out of the contact paper about 1/8 inch inside the circle you drew. The circle needs to be slightly smaller than the bottom of the glass.

4. Set the piece of contact paper sticky side up on your work surface.

5. Set the glass on top of the contact paper. Be sure to center the bottom of the glass over the circle you cut out. Turn the glass over so the bottom is facing up.

6. Stick a snowflake sticker to the bottom of the glass centered inside the circle. Press down well to make sure that the edges are stuck down.

7. Paint on the etching cream onto the bottom of the glass staying within the cut circle and completely covering the snowflake. Be sure to get the cream in all the spaces of the snowflake. Let it dry for about five minutes.

8. Wash off the etching cream with a sponge dipped in water. Let the glass dry.

9. Peel off the sticker and contact paper. Continue the above steps to make more snowflake glasses.

Tips & Warnings

• Use the same steps to etch a glass candle holder (etch on the side of it instead of the bottom), glass dessert plates or glass mugs to hold hot chocolate.

• Do not let children use the etching cream without adult supervision.
