Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a cord that will connect from your player to a speaker system. This is specific to your player, so you must go to an electronics store and ask which one would connect to a speaker system. Also, check the reception venue and see if there is a speaker system already set up; otherwise you may need to rent or borrow.

Make a list of the songs that you would like to play at your wedding, including your first dance and parent dances. Remember that songs average around three minutes. Once you have made a list of all the songs, see if that would equal about the length of the reception. Begin to number the songs in the order you want them played and create a playlist so the songs can be played straight through in that order.

    • 3

Do a run through. Make sure the music player hooks up to the speakers and plays the music as you want it to play. If you personally do not want to be in charge of controlling the player, suggest one of the groomsmen or bridesmaids take over the task, pause the music when necessary and make introductions for things such as the parent dances.

Make sure the music player is charged on the wedding day,and bring a charger with you. It would be easiest to connect it to the charger while playing, if possible, so the music won't get cut short if it loses power.

Tips & Warnings

  • If become your own DJ for your wedding makes you jittery, have a backup plan just in case. Make sure someone else has another music player with suitable songs, or you have CDs to play if all else fails.
