1
Allow a handful of seeds to soak in a shallow dish of water overnight. This will help to germinate the seeds and get them primed for the soil so they can begin growing immediately. Make sure the seeds are clean before placing them in the water. You may clean them by rinsing them off with water.
-
2
Spread the seeds in a fresh pot of regular soil with no fertilizers or chemicals evenly across the surface of the dirt. Make sure the seeds are close together and dense. If you are planning on having wheat grass several times a week, it is in your best interest to have several pots going at once. Set outside and cover with a newspaper.

3
Lift the paper and lightly water the seeds. Since you are interested in quickly producing wheat grass, you can add some cow or dog manure to the surface at this point, which will help naturally fertilize the soil.
-
4
Harvest the wheat grass by waiting until it has begun to sprout and grow green. When the grass is approximately 6 inches tall, trim it down to about 1/2 inch above the roots and allow it to grow back again. After harvesting a second time, gently pull the plants up out of the pot.
-
5
Mix the soil and more manure with the roots and replant the grass. This will help ensure a quick growing and healthy crop of wheat grass. If you are harvesting several pots, mix the soil on staggered days in order to provide enough every day.

Dog manure can contain roundworm. The common large roundworm, called Toxocara canis can also infect humans. It is estimated that 90% of young puppies are infected with ascarids or large roundworms. Do not use dog or cat feces to fertilize plants! Use cow manure (or the droppings of other herbivores) only on garden plants, and know that the resulting nutrients will be available to your plants only after the manure composts.
