How to Survive a Cardio Kickboxing Class
A cardio kickboxing class provides a stellar workout. The class is primarily a cardiovascular class with lots of high-impact movement. You'll also experience improved muscle tone as a result of the controlled kicks and punches you perform during the session. While a traditional cardio kickboxing class is intense, it can be modified to suit any fitness level. Your first class will be the most difficult, and you'll find subsequent classes are more manageable.
Instructions

1
Wear proper fitness attire, including solid aerobics shoes. Your fitness clothes should be fitted. Baggy clothes can trip you up when you are performing kickboxing routines.
-
2
Arrive to class early and inform the instructor that it is your first class. If you have any physical limitations due to injuries, tell the instructor about them. He may offer you some modifications to protect your body.

3
Warm up thoroughly. You shouldn't begin punching, jabbing or kicking until your muscles are warm. Since you aren't used to these movements, you're even more prone to injury. Take your time with the warm-up to get your blood circulating and heart rate higher.
-
4
Pace yourself. You may not be able to work out at the same intensity level as other class participants. Remember that many have been doing this a lot longer than you have and it's not a competition. Most classes are an hour in length so pace yourself appropriately.
-
5
Emulate the instructor's form. You probably won't be able to complete movements as quickly as she does but you should strive for proper form. You should never sacrifice form for speed. Instead, perform the moves at your own pace but do them properly.
-
6
Take a break if you feel fatigued. Step to the side of the room and watch the movements for a while. You'll learn a lot by simply watching, and you can rejoin the group when you feel up to it.
-
7
Hydrate. You'll be sweating a lot in this cardio class so you must drink plenty of water. If you don't, you'll likely feel more fatigued and run the risk of becoming dehydrated.
-
8
Complete the cool down and stretch portion of the class. You may be tempted to simply leave class as soon as possible but it's imperative to bring your heart rate down slowly and stretch all the muscles you worked. Doing so will help to prevent injuries.
