How to Make a Woofer Case
After paying loads of money for a nice woofer, nobody wants to spend even more on a case. In this article, we will discuss an easy way to build your own. Though the task might seem complicated, it's really more simple than you would expect. If you know how to cut plywood and spray on some glue, these steps should be no problem for you.
Things You'll Need
- Miter or table saw
- 6 sheets of standard plywood
- Wood glue
- Wood screws
- Power drill
- Large piece of paper
- Standard mounting bolts
- Your choice of carpeting
- Spray adhesive

1
Using a miter or table saw, cut 6 pieces of standard plywood to size for making a box at least 5 inches wider than your woofer. Take your time. Make a smooth cut so the edges will fit together nicely.
-
2
Using the miter saw, cut out the inner shape of your woofer on the frontal piece of plywood. Make sure that the woofer fits as perfectly as possible. You don't want any pressure leaking out of the face.

3
Apply a coat of wood glue to all touching edges of the wood pieces. Then, using wood screws and a drill, attach all of the pieces of the box together. You may want to inset the screws a few millimeters to allow for even covering.

After you have allowed the glue to dry sufficiently, drill the mounting holes for the woofer in the frontal wood piece. An easy way to drill these accurately is to take a large piece of paper and, holding the paper over the woofer, mark all of the mounting holes. Take the paper and mark the hole locations on the frontal plywood.

5
Take the woofer and, using standard mounting bolts, attach it to the frontal piece. Tighten the bolts as much as possible to prevent pressure leaking.

6
Apply carpeting to the outside of the box using adhesive spray. Apply a generous coat of spray. Gently lay the carpet across the wood. An easy way to lay the carpet is to wrap one section around all the sides of the box. Lay a piece across the top. Lastly, measure the woofer hole and cut it out of the frontal piece. Starting at the center, gently lay and press the piece onto the wood.

Tips & Warnings
After applying wood glue, give it about 10 to 15 minutes to set up before continuing. This will give it a chance to thicken so it won't run.
Always watch your hands when using saws.
Spray adhesive fumes can be very toxic. When using these items, try to work in a well ventilated area.
