How to Build a Garden Water Fountain

Here's an easy way to create a fountain to enhance your garden. You will learn how to install the water pump, which pushes the water and directs the flow of your fountain. With the basic set-up, you can vary the design and style of your fountain.

Things You'll Need

• Large bowl , wash basin, half barrel or large ceramic flower pot (without a hole in the bottom).
• Piece of 1/8-inch or 1/4-inch plastic hose
• Small water fountain pump
• Spout statue, finial or rocks

Instructions

How to make a garden fountain

1. 

   Get a large flower pot or ceramic bowl to be used as the catch-basin for your fountain

2. 

   Take the pump out in the basin and attach the desired length of hose (1 or 2 feet )

3. 

   Attach the other end of the hose to pour spout statue or finial, or pile a few large rocks over the pump and allow the water to trickle up out of the rocks.

4. Fill with water and plug in your pump to a grounded socket or extension cord.

5. Check the water levels and always keep full.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure there is no air in your hose.

• If the water empties, refill and spray water at the pump to clear any debris.

• Always be careful when using water and electric pumps.

• Do not ever take pump apart when it is on or in the water.
