How to Make a Paper Space Ship

Maybe you remember making paper spaceships in grade school and sailing them from the stairwell. Making paper space ships is easy and can be accomplished with a single piece of paper. Follow a few simple steps and you'll soon be creating a new generation of paper aircraft.

Instructions

1. Grab the top right corner of a standard size piece of paper. Fold it down diagonally, then unfold it.

2. Make the same fold using the top left corner. When this second fold is unfolded, you should have an X on the paper.

3. Turn the paper over and fold it in half where the X connects in the center. Unfold the paper and turn it back over.

4. Place your finger in the center of the crease. The sides will pop up. Pinch the folds on each side of the center; pull them towards each other until they connect. Keeping them connected, bring them down to the bottom half of the paper. Crease the edges.

5. Fold the top half down over the top of the bottom half. Your paper should look like a triangle on top of a rectangle.

6. Grab the loose point of the bottom right side of the triangle and fold it up to the top center point. Do the same with the left side.

7. Fold the point of one of the side triangles over so that the bottom straight line connects with the center line. Fold the other side the same way. Your paper should now look as though it has a kite shape on top of the triangle. The rectangle on the bottom should still look the same.

8. Fold down the entire top of the kite shape onto the lower part of the kite shape. Crease the edges so the paper lays flat.

9. Pull out the left flap and tuck it into the opening at the side of the tip. You will see a 1-inch opening. Now tuck in the right flap to the other side of the tip. Crease the edges.

10. Fold the sides into the center to make the wings. Now fold those two flaps back the other way, halfway. Fold the entire paper spaceship in half.

Tips & Warnings

• Crease the edges as each fold is made. This will ensure a neat and clean finish when your space ship is complete.

• Follow all directions perfectly. If you make a mistake, your spaceship will not fly.
