How to Start and Run a Guild in "World of Warcraft"
Guilds sit at the center of most social and game activities in World of Warcraft. From providing people to hang out with to raiding top-end dungeons, guilds perform an important function. Even if you're just starting out, or are an old hat to World of Warcraft, you can start your own guild.

1
Figure out a guild name. Remember, on role-playing servers, the name needs to be fantasy-related. If you're forming the guild with a group of people, make sure you talk with them about the name and come to some sort of consensus.
-
2
Buy a guild charter. They can be bought for 10 silver in any of the capital cities from the Guild Master.
-
-
3
Collect all the signatures that the charter needs (which is 10, including the founder) to form your guild. If you don't have enough friends to give you all the signatures, sit in a capital city and use the Trade channel to offer money for signatures. This will usually fill the charter up quickly.
-
4
Take the charter back to a guild master and turn it in. This will create your guild.
-
5
Decide what kind of guild you want to be, now that you have your guild (and hopefully some members). Will you be a casual guild, a raiding guild, a role-playing guild or a PVP guild, or some combination of all of these? Being one type doesn't prevent you from doing any of the others. It's just your main focus.

6
Buy and design a tabard for your guild. They can be created at the tabard vendor next to the Guild Master. It is 10 gold for a tabard to be created, and around 90 silver for guild members to purchase. It you have the gold, it is also probably a good idea to go ahead and purchase a guild bank with at least one tab, which is a page with a certain number of slots that guild members can deposit various items into. This is 250 gold, and it is an asset when it comes to recruiting new members. Being part of a guild means helping each other out, and if you have a bank tab where people can withdraw things they might need (such as cloth or ore), it makes it that much easier.
-
7
Work out general guild rules as well as loot rules with the people in your guild, and try your best to make them clear to everyone. For example, some guilds might want to only recruit adults, while others want to keep cursing out of the guild chat. When you're running instances, does everyone pass on Bind on Pickup items, or do they roll as appropriate? There are guilds that have split up over arguments about loot, so try and make things as clear as possible.

8
Start recruiting for what you would like to do. Use the guild recruitment channel (which is often /4 in the chat box) to advertise your guild and its goals. For example, if you want to create a raiding guild, try and recruit as many level 70 characters of various classes into your guild.
-
9
Create a message board or forum for your guild to use outside of the game. This is good for general chatting, as well as scheduling events, setting up rules, and listing guild achievements.

Tips & Warnings
You'll generally get more people to join your guild if your character is a decent level. Many people will avoid guilds run by level 11s, for example.
Be careful who you give access to regarding the guild bank. Many guilds have had members abuse it--take all the money or stuff they can, and then quit and sell it all. Work out the rules regarding the bank and the items in it early on.
