Advertise your game. Post brief, tasteful announcements to appropriate Web message boards and Internet newsgroups.

  3. Step 3

Select your players. Use e-mail to ask prospects about their game interests and skill levels. Choose players who are a good fit for your game.

  4. Step 4

Prepare your game. Carefully develop your game's setting, characters and plots. Organize your material for easy access and reference.

  5. Step 5

Find a virtual space. Select an online gaming service or Internet chat site and make sure your players know how to find it.

  6. Step 6

Develop a schedule. Find out when and how often your players can meet. Make sure you stick to your schedule.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be patient. Online gaming is very different from playing face-to-face. The game may start slowly, but expect it to pick up once you become familiar with your players and the tricks of gaming online.
  • Let your players do the work. Online gaming offers an excellent opportunity for role-playing. Give players plenty of room to take the game in any direction they choose.

on 2/23/2009 I definitely agree, there are loads of places out there to get further, more detailed info, and to offer game hosting. Off the top of my head www.rpgrm.com and www.rpg.net come to mind, but there are loads of similar sites.
