Use Milk of Magnesia to treat heartburn or indigestion. If taking the liquid form, shake the bottle well and use a measuring spoon to get the recommended dosage. You will find the dosage information on the bottle. Consume the Milk of Magnesia and wash it down with a glass of water. Milk of Magnesia can also be found in the pill form and dosage information will be provided on the back of the package.

Relieve constipation by drinking Milk of Magnesia, or by consuming the pill form. Follow the manufacturer's dosage instructions to learn the amount that you should take for your age and body size. For laxative use, the dose will be increased in order to act as a saline, drawing more water to the intestines and therefore creating a laxative effect.

Use Milk of Magnesia to lessen the negative affects of seborrhea dermatitis, which is basically red and flaky skin on the face, chin and scalp. Soak a cotton ball in Milk of Magnesia, then apply it to the affected areas. Let it dry, then rinse off with warm water.

Milk of Magnesia can be stored, unopened, for about 3 years. Once opened, the liquid form of Milk of Magnesia will last up to 6 months.

Keep Milk of Magnesia out of the reach of children. Overdosing can occur and result in nausea, vomiting, reduced heartbeat, lethargy, unconsciousness and even death.
