Keep your skin looking young with lotion!

Lotion is used by millions of people everyday to keep skin full of moisture and healthy-looking. Although there are plenty of brands of lotion on the market today, very little people know that it is fairly easy to make your own lotion with the right ingredients. In addition, most of these ingredients can be found right in your own home. You'll also need carrier oils along with some fragrant essential oils.

From Quick Guide: Almond Oil 101
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fragrant essential oils (Chamomile, rose, sweet pea, lemon, tea tree, peppermint and sweet almond)
  • Mineral oil
  • Honey
  • Olive oil
  • Lanolin
  • Mayonnaise
  • Beeswax
  • Vitamin E
  • Grape seed extract
  • Rose water (soluble)
  • Your choice of fruits: lemons, strawberries, peaches, limes
  • Empty lotion jars
  1. Step 1

Buy some or all of the ingredients listed above. Be sure to do your research with the essential oils because some are skin-sensitive. Purchase only the oils that you can apply to the skin.

  2. Step 2

Begin with 1 tbsp. of honey, 1 tbsp. of olive oil, 1 tbsp. of coconut oil, 1 tbsp. of mineral oil and 2 crushed capsules of Vitamin E as a base for the lotion. Or you can switch carrier oils and try other oils such as sweet almond oil, shea butter, apricot oil, peanut oil, rosehip seed, cocoa butter, sunflower, jojoba, or hazelnut to name a few.

  3. Step 3

Blend more than one mixture in lotion jars to get the right mixture you want and write down all the ingredients and how much you used for each jar. When blending in the essential oils, write down the formulas you use for each mixture. Add your choice of a fragrant essential oil.

  4. Step 4

Put all ingredients into a blender and mix well until it is smooth. Then mix it with 2 tbsp. of glycerin. Pour a capsule of crushed grape seed extract as a preservative to your lotion and give it a shelf life of at least three months.

  5. Step 5

Blend it well again until it reaches a creamy substance. Try many different mixtures and oil formulas to get the luxurious smell and consistency you are working for. When you are finished, pour the mixture into an attractive lotion bottle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Rub lotion in well until it reaches into the pores for maximum moisturizing!
