The ratio of car wash to water varies depending on which product you choose. Most car wash containers come with instructions that tell you how many capfuls of product to add per ounce of water. By adding just a couple more steps, though, you can make washing your car even easier.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Car wash
  • Water
  • Bucket
  • Plastic cup
  • Measuring cup
  • Marker
  1. Step 1

Choose and buy a car wash that is appropriate for your car. These products vary depending on whether you want wax included in the wash itself, if you have a clear coat on your car and other variables. Make sure to read the label carefully before purchasing it.

  2. Step 2

Use your measuring cup to determine how much water your bucket can hold. If your vehicle is small to mid-size, you will only need to fill your bucket about 3/4 full. Note how many ounces of water your bucket can hold.

  3. Step 3

Read the instructions on the car wash. It will tell you, based on how many ounces of water your bucket can hold, how many capfuls of car wash you need.

  4. Step 4

Pour the appropriate amount of car wash into the plastic cup. Then use your marker and mark the outside of the cup clearly where the car wash stops.

  5. Step 5

Pour the car wash into your bucket and add water.

Tips & Warnings
  • The process of marking the plastic cup may seem tedious at first, but this can save you time later. By making a line on the plastic cup, you can reuse it later instead of worrying about measuring out capfuls of car wash each time you wash your car.
  • Be sure to rinse out the plastic cup after each use so car wash doesn't build up inside the cup.
