Have you ever noticed that when folding bed linens, the flat sheets come out straight and perfect but the fitted sheets end up looking like a clumpy mess? Not only is an improperly folded fitted bed linen unsightly, it is also hard to store, leaving the linen closet in disarray. Learning how to properly fold a fitted bed linen will help to solve your disorderly linen closet issue.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Table or flat surface
  1. Step 1

Gather together the corners of the sheet. Without removing the sheet completely from the laundry basket gather the top right and bottom right corners of the sheet into your right hand and the top left and bottom left corners of the sheet into your left hand. Not removing the sheet from the laundry basket will keep you from accidentally dropping it on the floor.

  2. Step 2

Join the corners together. While holding the corners in your hands slide your hand inside the top right corner so that the point of the corner is completely extended. Then place the bottom corner over the top corner your hand is in. This will connect the two corners one inside of the other. Complete the same process on the left side.

  3. Step 3

Lay the sheet on the table. Laying the sheet on a flat surface will help you to keep the corners together and the sides of the sheet nice and straight, which in turn will make the folding process simpler. A flat surface will also prevent you from dropping the bed linen and having to start all over again.

  4. Step 4

Smooth the edges of the fitted bed linen and gather the selvage edges so that they are straight with the points of the corners to prepare for folding. The selvage is the finished edge of the fabric that keeps it from fraying. Tuck the selvage in so that you have nice straight sides.

  5. Step 5

Complete the fold. While the fitted bed linen is still on the table or flat surface, you should have four corners. Two of the corners are the top and bottom corners inserted together and the other two are the folded edge of the sheet. Now fold the bed linen in half so that all four corners are stuck together. Then continue by folding the sheet into thirds, and then in half again. When the fold for the fitted bed linen is completed you will have a neatly folded, compact square.
