Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
If you have a large horse, it'll be easier to measure if you have a friend help you.
Start by placing the end of the measuring tape on the center of your horse's chest. -
Step 2
With your friend holding the end of the tape measure at the chests center, you will continue to measure around the widest part of your horse's shoulders, and the widest part of his/her barrel
-
Step 3
Continue to measure around his/her hips & flank, and continue on all the way around to the tail.
To get a more accurate measurement, try to put the tape measure in the center of his/her tail. -
Step 4
If you have a horse who measures as an odd number, ie: 73 or 75, you most likely will need to go up to the next even size. If you don't you could risk the blanket being too tight (resulting in tears)
-
Step 5
The end result will be a happy horse whose blanket fits securely and comfortablyYou are now ready to purchase a blanket for your horse! Online stores that I like are Stateline Tack and Schneiders Tack.
