If you want to quickly change your hair style for a week or even for an evening, a ¾ cap is a way to do it. Also called express weaves or half wigs, ¾ caps are made just like regular wigs only their built to blend in with your natural hair rather than simply cover it. You can choose a curly style, a straight style, short or long. For an extra splash, they come in an array of colors to play with.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3/4 cap
  • comb
  • brush
  • hair gel
  • oil sheen
  1. Step 1

Part your hair from ear to ear at the crown of your head. Brush the front section forward toward your face and the brush back section back toward your neck.

  2. Step 2

Pull the ¾ cap onto your head from the back by first sliding the clips into your hair securely at the nape of your neck.

  3. Step 3

Secure the back section of your hair in a small ponytail. Wrap the ponytail into a tight bun if you have longer hair, to keep it from bulging beneath the ¾ cap.

  4. Step 4

Stretch the cap forward to cover the middle of your head up to the part you made.

  5. Step 5

Secure the front clips at the part.

  6. Step 6

Tighten the drawstrings, if your cap has them, so that it fits snugly but comfortably.

  7. Step 7

Style the front section of hair with your natural hair over the ¾ cap, blending your hair with the hair piece. Apply a gel or oil sheen and brush into your natural hair and the ¾ cap.

  8. Step 8

Apply a little gel or oil sheen if you like and brush your hair as well as the ¾ cap to blend.

Tips & Warnings
  • While ¾ caps are a great way to completely change your look, you should still choose a texture of hair that is comparable to your own so the hair piece blends with your natural hair.
  • Some ¾ caps are made from synthetic materials and cannot be styled with heat. Be sure to read the instructions and all labels before styling or shampooing your hair piece.
