Step 1
Evaluate your dog for symptoms of chondrosarcoma. Dogs that experience this condition may have seizures, excessive bad breath and bleeding from the nose or eye area. Your canine may also begin losing weight and start sneezing for no apparent reason.

Contact your vet and make an immediate appointment for testing. Your dog should have blood and urine testing completed. In addition chest x-rays and a CT scan may be taken. Typically a biopsy of the affected area will be needed to make a final diagnosis.

Step 3
Consider allowing your canine to undergo surgery. Since chondrosarcoma is very aggressive surgery may be needed immediately. The tumor is typically removed from your canine during surgery. After your dog has completed surgery radiation may be needed to ensure your canine’s full recovery.

Step 4
Create a quite place for your canine to heal. When your dog is recovering from surgery and radiation she will be tired. Move her bed to a quite corner of the home away from noise and stress. Limit physical activity and keep your canine leashed during bathroom breaks.

Monitor your canine’s recovery carefully. Evaluate your dog’s symptoms daily and note any changes. Call your vet if you notice any excessive swelling or redness to the affected area.
