How to Make Unique Winter Party Invitations
Winter can seem like it lasts forever for those who live in a four-season state. Spending time with friends and finding reasons to get together can help pass those long dark nights and brighten everyone’s seasonal blues. You don’t have to wait for a holiday to have a party. Luring your guests out of their comfy homes on a cold night may seem impossible, but a unique invitation will capture their attention and make them hop on their skis to get to your house.
Things You'll Need

1
Open Microsoft Word to a new blank page. Since this is not going to be a formal event like a wedding you can use a flier (blank page) for your invitation to make the set-up easier and allow your guests to hang your information on their refrigerator as a reminder.

Type in your information. Don’t worry about fonts and sizes yet, just get all the information you need to include on your invitation. Time and date are essential, of course, as well as location, but also include extra information about food served and any activity or theme you wish to do. For example, have a murder mystery party where guests act out a murder mystery and then have to solve the crime.

Use some special fonts to make your invitation stand out. You can use some special winter-related fonts, or if murder and mayhem are your themes, try something scary. If you don’t have a great font selection already, you can inexpensively increase your font library by purchasing a CD or downloading free fonts from some online sources. Add some personal photos or clip art that will set the tone. For a truly unique invitation, take some photos you have altered using Photoshop filters or have transformed in other ways. Put your friend’s faces on icy snow men, make a winter photo of your home look scary and spooky (if you are having a murder mystery party) or superimpose a shot of you or your home on the top of Mt. Everest to really exaggerate a snowy season. This step is key in making your winter party invitation stand out.

Don’t forget the envelope. Add some creative flair to the envelopes by printing another custom image or clip art to help your invitation stand out from the bills and credit card applications in the mail.

Tips & Warnings
Spend some time working on your artwork prior to putting your invitations together so that you have plenty of time to gather images and manipulate them in Photoshop.
Plan a fun game night, poker night or winter movie classics party. For horror fans, a movie like "The Shining" or the miniseries "Storm of the Century" would make for a perfect winter night.
Be sure to give people plenty of time to mark their calendars, and plan a snow date if you are in an area where the weather is unpredictable.
Invite guests to stay the night so they don't have to go out in sub-zero weather to get home. Plan a nice pancake breakfast to end the party.
